March 2018 Picks

Milton’s Picks:
Urban Riesling 2016
I know, I know you don’t like Riesling. Perhaps you have never had one that wasn’t pretty darn good. This is a great introduction to how Riesling should taste and while there is a touch of sweetness to, it is beautifully balanced by a little jolt of acidity that brightens the palate and leaves you wanting another sip. $12.49 (Price good for March, 2018 only.)
Buehler Chardonnay 2014
This is a classic example of Napa Chardonnay at a very reasonable price. Creamy on the palate with notes of orchard fruit and a bit of restrained tropical fruit all wrapped in a blanket of nicely restrained oak. $16.99 (Price good for March, 2018 only.)
Camigliano Rosso di Montalcino 2015
From a very well renowned Brunello producer, this lovely, medium-bodied red is their second wine; I call it their baby Brunello. Leather, sweet tobacco and slightly stewed black fruit aromas come roaring from the glass heralding a terrific Tuscan wine. Drink this now or hold on to it for a couple years. $19.99 (Price good for March, 2018 only.)
Colome Autentico Malbec 2016
Malbecs from the Salta region of Argentina always have a very unique character. Grown at the highest elevation for wine grapes, the boast very intense, concentrated fruit character along with an evident savory component reminiscent of briar and grilled herbs. This is an exquisite example of type that really over delivers in terms of its complex nature when compared to its price. $25.99 (Price good for March, 2018 only.)

Dave’s Picks:
Lungarotti Torre Di Giano 2016
This delicious Italian is a blend of Vermentino, Trebbiano and Grechetto. Fresh, fragrant and well balanced, this wine delivers notes of lime, sea salt and scallions. A great match for poultry, ceviche or cheeses. $17.99 (Price good for March, 2018 only.)
Haraszthy Bearitage Petite Sirah 2015
Possibly the most misunderstood grape variety in the world. It is also referred to as Durif, a hybrid grape from 19th century France, and is not a variation of Syrah, despite its name. In any case, this example from Lodi, California is a plump, juicy, robust delight. Black cherry, cassis and clove flavors burst from the glass. Cheers! $13.49 (Price good for March, 2018 only.)
Tora Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2016
While the overwhelming majority of New Zealand white wines hail from the Marlborough district of the south island, this intriguing wine has more of a French tilt to it, as it features more mineral and herbal flavors than the typical kiwi-grapefruit palate this region is famous for. $12.99 (Price good for March, 2018 only.)
Chateau Maris Syrah Grenache 2015
Bio-dynamically produced and certified organic, this red blend from the south of France has a nose of wild strawberries, crushed flowers and black pepper. The palate is nicely focused with gorgeous blackberry, truffle and slate melding into a long, satisfying finish. $18.99 (Price good for March, 2018 only.)

February 2018 Picks

Milton’s Picks:
Vie di Romans “Ciampagnis” Chardonnay 2015
This is an exquisitely complex example of Italian Chardonnay. Stunning minerality and flavors that run the gamut from spice to mango to apricot to apple with an added floral aromatic quality make this a true show stopper. $33.99 (Price good for February, 2018 only.)
Ghost Block Zinfandel, Pelissa Vineyard 2015
A very rich and intense Napa Valley Zinfandel which boasts compelling and luxuriant texture which, while very full bodied indeed, never feels heavy on the palate. This has loads of bright dark fruit character, spice, oak and even some violet nuances. The flavors keep on going and evolving over the course of an evening. $31.99 (Price good for February, 2018 only.)
Pali Wine Company Pinot Noir “Huntington” 2015
From Santa Barbara County, this is a rather broad shouldered Pinot with waves of expressive black fruit, sweet loam and grilled meat. The richness of the flavor profile makes this wine seem a bit larger than it really is but that is one of the reasons that one does not tire of it. $21.99 (Price good for February, 2018 only.)
Tall Sage Red Blend 2015
This is a lovely, food-friendly Syrah and Cabernet based blend that defies logic. How can someone possibly put a wine that has this much going on – interesting nearly dried black fruit, soft herb, hints of spice – into the bottle for this little money? Many other like-priced blends ought to be ashamed. $10.99 (Price good for February, 2018 only.)

ness and dark berry flavors that linger in the long finish. $19.99 (Price good for February, 2018 only.)
Herdade do Rocim Amphora Branco 2014
Made in the ancient method, using clay pots (amphora) without temperature control, this Portuguese white displays flavors of fig, dates
and candied lemon rind. A fascinating blend of Antao Vaz, Perrum, Rabo de Ovelha and Manteudo! Really? $15.99 (Price good for February, 2018 only.)
